How to Create an Application In Salesforce?

In today's tutorial, we are going to create an application in Salesforce. But before starting, we need to understand What is Application and How types of Applications in Salesforce? Let's go in-depth and understand this:

Salesforce Application:

Application is a salesforce is a group of tabs or collection of items that work together as a single unit to serve a particular function. Users can access multiple objects, tabs, reports, and dashboards in a single application. Users can switch between apps using App Launcher in the left-side corner.

There are two types of Salesforce Applications:

1. Standard Application: Salesforce provides standard apps such as Sales, Marketing, Service, Community, Sales Console, Service Console, etc. You can customize tabs in this app.  

2. Custom Application: Custom apps are created according to your business need. Custom Apps let you put your logo and custom color. 

How to create a Custom Application in Salesforce?

Step 1: Go to Setup and Search for App Manager. Open it and Click on New Lightning App.

Step 2: Give an App Name, Developer Name, Put a Brand logo & choose a theme color and Click on Next.

Step 3: Choose App Options according to your business case. I just make it default and Click on Next.

Step 4: If you want to add a Utility Item for your App, you can add it from this screen and click Next. I am not adding any Utility Item for now.
Step 5: Select the tabs you want to show in your apps. I am choosing Account, and Contacts for now.


Step 6: Select the profiles you want to show this Application and click Save and Finish.

Step 7: From the App Launcher, Find and select Tutorial App.

Once you open this App, You will see that we have only two tabs which are Accounts and Contacts which we selected previously.


Check out the New App! It's all with the custom branding. Now, you are ready to create your own custom Lightning Apps.

Summary:

The difference between Standard and Custom Apps is you can delete the custom app but you cannot delete Standard Apps. You can do customization and Branding according to your business and make that app perfect for your user.  That's all for today!
